The Sun

The sun is one of the most incredible stars in space. All of the humans on earth can’t even imagine how big it is because it’s much larger than the earth. It makes you realize that we are just a spec in space. The things that we think is large on earth, is nothing compared to what we can’t see in space. Every day we see the sun and it looks incredibly smaller than us. But it’s the total opposite. It makes you wonder how big space really is if we are just a small dot in it all. But there is even more fascinating subjects about the sun. Like how hot it is. We think that 100 degrees is hot here on earth, imagine the sun being much, much, MUCH hotter than that. Even though you also see pictures of the sun online and it looks like a solid. It’s not. It’s actually not even close to that. This great fiery ball is 98% hydrogen and helium. Both of those elements are gases. So, just like most of the stars that we see in our night sky, it’s not solid. Imagine how much energy this ball of light contains. It’s hard to picture it but if you think about it, we use a lot of solar power in some things. Including, some of the contraptions that take those pictures that you can see on the internet. Even though it’s kind of crazy and scary to think that we are that close to a fire ball…. Where would we be without it? The truth is, we wouldn’t even be a thought. Because we wouldn’t exist without the sun. We depend on this one star to survive.
