Who Should Have The Authority to Set Prices, The Free Market or The State?

The free market should be able to have the authority to set prices. The government won’t reasonably set prices because they are not paying into it. If anything they’ll make the taxes and the original prices higher. At least have the people who are paying for these prices actually decide on what is reasonably affordable. But of course the government wants to stick their foot in everything that they possibly can. But you can’t let anybody pick the prices because I think some people would use the authority they have and make the prices really cheap. So there would have to be a group effort to work together. Not too much government though. There would be pros and cons to both sides of the issue. What do you think? Do you think that the free market or the government should have the authority to set prices? Let me know in the comments below.
